Sheets protected in Excel files of problem sets
Hi,
It's inconvenient to use your Excel files due to "sheets protected". A lot of functions can not be used, and sometimes I am even not able to write anything in certain cells. I wasted lots of time to deal with the issue. I didn't see any reason why you want to do this. I mean, if you want to prohibit copy paste, I think we are still able to do so. Actually, this is my solution to use your files, paste them into another file... Could you remove that or find a way to let us be convenient when practicing those questions? Thank you so much. And, however, those problems are good and that was a great idea to provide us those files!

Hi,
We prefer to leave our Excel files protected as one of the benefits is it more closely reflects the Pearson VUE exam environment. We want our users to feel at ease within the Pearson environment on exam day.
We are not attempting to prohibit copy and paste; we are trying to make the functionality similar to Pearson so users don't end up expecting to perform something on exam day that they can't do in the Pearson environment.
Where the question is written (grey area with black border) should be protected; outside of that you should be able to type anywhere. This is a reminder that you shouldn't be modifying the question. If you do this on exam day you CAN delete/modify the question and then you'll likely lose a lot of time trying to recover it. We're trying to help our users develop good habits!
If you find a spreadsheet where the cells are protected and you believe they shouldn't be please let us know by email. We need the filename, worksheet and ideally the cell reference and we'll happily look into it.
Hi,
Thank you for the explanation. That makes sense!
However, there is some cells where we can not type other than the gray zone. It could be some Excel bug. I will refer to you next time when I find one.
Good weekend!

I m having this same issue with the practice exams. I cannot use any of the space to the right of the question (greyed out box). It is nearly impossible to use your practice exams because of this. For one question I am limited to 8 columns and can't type anywhere above row 34. Can we please have the password to unprotect?
Please let us know the practice exam(s) you are looking at and preferably the worksheet name and we will address this today.
Practice exam 1. It is an issue with almost every sheet.
Thanks for pointing this out. A new version is available in the PowerPack section of the wiki.

Please let us know if:
a.) This version has the same issue.
b.) If you come across the issue in any other Excel files.
