Table Confusion
Hi,
I'm a bit confused in regards to the lookup tables for both ISO and NCCI.
a) For 2016.Q10, where do I find the ELR, D-Ratio, W, B, G, split points, etc? I can't find them in my study kit, so maybe I'm not looking in the right spot?
b) In general, I'm confused by the layout of the Study Kit's tables. Is there a reading that clearly explains the layout of them and how to use them?
c) Do you expect the necessary information will be given to us within the excel environment (similar to the problems such as "NCCI Experience Rating Example", or do you think they'll be given in the "formulas" section as an excerpt?
Thanks!

The CAS didn't provide the necessary tables for the NCCI reading in the study kit for this sitting. They haven't provided any guidance as far as we know on what candidates are supposed to do. It seems reasonable to expect they would have to give you the values needed in the exam to complete a question like 2016 Q10.
Previous study kits have included pages E1 - E5 for the state of Alabama. Pages E1-E3 list class codes with their associated ELR and D-Ratio values. Page E4 provided a table of W values given by expected loss range. Page E5 provided a table of B values given by expected loss range. At the bottom of page E4 is the information on the state per-claim and multi accident limits as well as the G ratio. Presumably on one of these pages or a new page there will be a listing of split points - though maybe the CAS would give that in the question now.
For the ISO tables, the ISO.Rating wiki should help you use the tables under the "Determination of Experience Modification" section. Similarly, we hope the worked example in the NCCI.Circular wiki provides guidance on where to look in the NCCI circular. Unfortunately, due to copyright concerns, we can't replicate tables our users.
With limited discussion of the exam content and environment it's difficult for us to know what you'll experience with respect to the tables. In the past, some CAS questions have been entirely self-contained (see 2013 Q8 for example). However, I would imagine the Tables section of the Pearson Vue environment is more likely. We do not believe the CAS would give the complete study kit reading in the Tables environment though - you'll need to memorize the calculation techniques but at least you should only be given the tables so there's less clutter to navigate in the exam.
