Chapters 1-4

Do you think it's very important to read chapters 1-4, or can we somehow get a summarized version for the properties of these distributions somewhere else to save time?

Comments

  • The CAS highly recommends reading the material in chapters 1-4 as they assume familiarity with it. However, our current opinion is if you have a reasonable grounding in statistics then your time is better spent elsewhere.

The general trend has been for the CAS to produce any "complicated" formulas you may need in the exam. So you should make sure you have formulas for the exponential distribution memorized but could reasonably hope they would give you formulas for a Pareto distribution for example.

Our recommendation is to work through our Bahnemann material and if you find yourself in distributional difficulty then read/refer back to the relevant part of the earlier chapters.
